Ingredients: before cooking
Weigh the foods as you add them, such as dry oats and raw apple. Choose the matching food state in the catalogue. Include oil, sauces and other additions.
Whole dish: after cooking
Weigh the finished food without the pot or bowl. Water evaporates or is absorbed, so the total ingredient weight cannot replace this measurement.
Your portion: what you eat
Serve yourself 200 g from an 800 g cooked dish to log a quarter of its calories and macros. Enter your portion weight and save the meal.

One pot. Different portions.
An 800 g cooked dish → your 200 g portion. That is a quarter of the porridge. The example is already filled in: change either weight and compare the results. Ingredient quantities stay the same.
Everything in the pot
Before cooking- Rolled oats, dry
- 100 g
- Whole milk, 3.25% fat
- 400 g

Cook the oats with milk and water following the packet instructions, then mix in the chopped apple. The ingredients, including water, weigh 850 g before cooking. Suppose some water evaporates, leaving 800 g of porridge. Weigh your own finished dish without the pot: your result may differ.
Contains milk and oats. If you need to avoid gluten, check the oat packaging.

Why cooked weight matters
This example adds up the ingredients’ calories and macros, then multiplies by your portion’s share of the finished dish. Adding or evaporating water changes the weight without adding calories. Discarding food or cooking liquid can change the nutrients too, so this calculation would need adjusting.
This is an estimate and assumes the ingredients are evenly distributed. It is less accurate for soup if one serving contains more broth and another more meat. For your own recipes, select the appropriate foods and check the values on the packaging.
